Evaluate the RadMed BED & EQD2 Calculator, designed to compare radiotherapy fractionation schedules using the linear-quadratic model. The calculator estimates Biologically Effective Dose (BED) and Equivalent Dose in 2 Gy fractions (EQD2) from the prescribed dose, number of fractions, dose per fraction and selected α/β ratio.
The tool is intended to support radiobiological comparison and treatment-planning review. Clinical interpretation must consider the relevant tissue, treatment intent, fractionation schedule and limitations of the linear-quadratic model.
Using this calculator
Enter the total prescribed dose and number of fractions, or the dose per fraction where applicable. Select or enter the appropriate α/β ratio for the tissue or clinical endpoint being evaluated. The calculator will display the corresponding BED and EQD2 values.
Verify all input values and the selected α/β ratio before use. Results should be interpreted by a qualified radiation oncologist or medical physicist and should not be used as the sole basis for clinical decision-making, particularly for extreme hypofractionation, re-irradiation or situations where the linear-quadratic model may have limited applicability.
