The Radiotherapy Bunker Shielding Calculator is being developed to support structured preliminary shielding assessments for radiotherapy facilities. The planned tool will help evaluate primary and secondary barrier requirements using equipment characteristics, workload, use and occupancy factors, distances, permissible dose limits, and selected shielding materials.
The calculator is intended to provide transparent calculations for primary radiation, leakage radiation and patient-scattered radiation, together with the required transmission factor and estimated barrier thickness.
This tool will support preliminary planning, design review, education and independent calculation checking. It will not replace a complete site-specific shielding design, regulatory assessment or report prepared and verified by a qualified medical physicist. Final calculations must consider equipment-specific data, facility geometry, construction details, applicable regulations and local authority requirements.
